Weddings, Birthdays and Football Games

Happy 2nd Birthday Lola!

What a two weeks we have had. Pete and I have been traveling for two weekends in a row and I’m glad to be staying home this weekend. Not that it will be a slow weekend because we have our God Daughters 2nd birthday to attend on Saturday, can’t believe she is already two, and then good friends of ours, Craig and Linda’s daughter is getting married on Saturday afternoon. I’ll post pictures of these events next week.

The weekend of October 23 we traveled to LaFayette, Louisiana for Mark and Amanda’s wedding….it was beautiful and they were so happy. Lots of people traveled from East Texas to attend which I think is a great tribute to what a great family and group of friends Mark has here at home. They will be making their home here in East Texas also, so we should get in lots of visiting time with them. Here is a picture of the happy bride and groom……we had such a good time!

Last weekend we were able to travel to Pflugerville to spend the weekend with our son and daughter-in-law. They have such a nice home and have made many new friends. We attended the football game at Bastrop, where he teaches and coaches, on Friday night. It was a good game and they clinched the District Championship with the win. It was exciting, they have a beautiful new stadium and a winning team…..just good to see our children so happy.

After a day of shopping with hubby (he loves to shop…really he does!) and DIL, thank you Brandie for being our guide, we got brave and ventured off to 6th street in downtown Austin on Saturday night…yes we did the dress up and everything…..Pete and I are still young at heart and like to have a good time. We got down there around 7:30 p.m., ate at a nice Mexican Restaurant and walked the streets and took lots of pictures. People have very good imaginations, there were some really creative costumes…those that amaze me the most were the people walking on stilts…wow they are talented! We were headed home around 11:30 p.m. and people were still coming in, there was a never ending line of lights waiting to exit at 6th street, so we probably left at a good time, it hadn’t gotten two wild when we left!

On Sunday we hoped to stop by Ikea since we had never been to one before, but they didn’t open until 11 a.m. on Sunday and we needed to get on back to East Texas, check on Prissy, our precious dog, make sure Preston had taken good care of her and get ready for our work week. We had such a good time though and we are already looking forward to going back in the spring!

We have just been so blessed to have good children, healthy children and a happy family!
